I'm Dallin and I am from Camarillo, CA. I went to Brigham Young University where I studied Public Health. I am a student at University of Houston College of Optometry. I like cycling, hiking, skateboarding, playing ultimate frisbee, and spending time with my wife Valeria and our son Matias. We enjoyed exploring West Texas and taking advantage of the unique experiences offered here. We had a lot of fun crossing over to Boquillas, Mexico, hiking Santa Elena Canyon in Big Bend, sliding down the Sandhills in Monahans, and hiking through Carlsbad Caverns. The BBQ in Marathon is unreal and the elotes are classic.
Optometry school teaches you how to be a student, West Texas Eyecare teaches you how to be a doctor. Dr. Cherry and Dr. Pass have been wonderful mentors in more ways than I could have imagined. The high-volume and complexity of patient encounters challenged me to think of what is most important and become more efficient. At my other sites I was able to see a variety of complex patients but it wasn't until here that I had the opportunity to understand they "why" and "how" behind treating and managing those conditions. I also was able to do things that I didn't do at my other sites, such as removing metallic foreign bodies, D&I, managing post-operative cases such as LASIK, Irvine-Gass, and much more. The staff make your job easy and the docs are transparent is everything they do. My experiences here have inspired how I plan to practice and have motivated me to have my own clinic one day.
